Morikawa back in the Major Championship Picture
Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa marched back into the major championship picture Sunday by winning the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by one shot for his first PGA Tour title in more than two years.
The win ended a span of 848 days since Morikawa’s last PGA Tour title at the 2023 Baycurrent Classic, a stretch of 46 starts. It was also his first victory in a PGA Tour Signature Event.
Morikawa led the field for the week in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (12.600) and Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (9.681), and moved from No. 19 to No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking with the victory.
Morikawa’s victory makes him the third major champion to win in five PGA Tour events this season, joining Scottie Scheffler and Justin Rose, and comes as the 2026 season marches toward the 90th Masters Tournament just eight weeks away.
The 108th PGA Championship follows May 11-17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Open is set for June 18-21 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, the sixth time the venue has hosted and the 126th playing of the championship. The Open Championship will be held July 16-19 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England, for the 154th edition and 11th time at that course.
The 29-year-old Morikawa began the final round two strokes behind 54-hole leader Akshay Bhatia, but followed up a third-round 10-under-par 62 with a final-round, 5-under-par 67 on Sunday, needing a birdie on Pebble's closing par-5 to prevail.
Of his six previous PGA Tour titles in standard stroke-play events, five have come when trailing entering the final round.
Morikawa finished at 22-under 266, matching the tournament’s lowest winning score relative to par, equaling Brandt Snedeker in 2015, for his seventh career PGA Tour victory.
Morikawa prevailed by one stroke over Min Woo Lee and Sepp Straka, with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler tied for fourth at 20-under with Tommy Fleetwood, two shots back.
Scheffler mounted a late charge with a 9-under 63, highlighted by three eagles, making him the first player to record three eagles in a round at Pebble Beach during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am since the tournament began keeping such records in 1983.
The round extended Scheffler’s streak to eight consecutive top-five finishes and 18 consecutive top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour.
Since 1983, only Tiger Woods has recorded longer top-five streaks on the PGA Tour — 11 consecutive events spanning the 2007 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational through the 2008 U.S. Open, and eight straight from the 2006 BMW Championship into 2007.
